Na Chi Lăng (custard apple)

Custard apple grown on the limestone hills of Chi Lang district, Lang Son province — the best known custard apple area in northern Vietnam. Fruit ripens around August to September, with thick flesh, concentrated sweetness and few seeds. Fusana Food buys and distributes Na Chi Lang to major supermarket chains: AEON, WinMart, BigC, Co.opmart and Annam Gourmet.

Grading — sorted by individual fruit weight: 250g up (fruit from 250 grams) and 200g up (fruit from 200 grams). Larger fruit means thicker flesh and a lower seed ratio.

Packing — 5 kg, 10 kg and 20 kg cartons.

Selecting and storing — ready to eat: the segment lines open evenly and turn ivory white, the skin yields slightly under gentle pressure. Not yet ripe: keep at room temperature in a cool, airy place for one to two days; do not refrigerate, as cold stops the ripening and spoils the texture. Fully ripe: eat the same day, or refrigerate for at most one to two days. The fruit ripens quickly and splits easily — stack gently and avoid heavy loads on top.
